FREELANCE  & PERSONAL PROJECTS

Masters Program

2020-2023 (MA in Art and Technology)

Wanting to expand my skillsets in motion design and film, I decided to apply for the University of Oklahoma's online Masters program in Art and Technology. Besides the skills gained, I really was reminded that personal projects are what propels us as artists. It can be hard as a graphic designer to work on personal projects outside of working hours, but it's so important to keep true to yourself and what your voice in the world has to say.

Many of the themes I explored were womanhood, burnout, loneliness and trust in a post-pandemic world, and the use of crafting and tangible artistry to reconnect and get out of the instant gratification social media hole we sometimes dig for ourselves. While many of these are heavy subjects, most of my projects tried to explore them with comedy and humor.

Coping with Crafting: My Journey to New Hobbies and Sewing the Perfect Wedding Jacket

In my final professional project, I explored the effects crafting as a hobby could have on my creativity and struggles with burnout. I really wanted to incorporate both motion design and film into this piece and every element was done by me. I also got a pretty sick jacket out of it!

Nick's Tiny Traveling Saloon

A Woman finds a mysteriously small saloon has opened in her bedroom. Does she join barkeep Nick for a drink or two and a friendly conversation? It may only cost her soul or eh maybe just some tin.

This piece was an ambitious solo film and animation that had a few iterations before its finalization and I'm so proud of it.

Getting My Ass Up & Working (My Average Work Day: A Day In the Life of a Graphic Designer)

Remember when Kim Kardashian told us all to get our asses up and work? What a time! This piece was my response to that internet clip. A millennial trying to make it as an influencer and burning the candle at both ends between work and content. Next time she'll make sure to give 120%! Thanks Kim!

GRWM (Get Ready With Me)

GRWM (Get Ready with Me) explores the ramifications that beauty standards of society can have on a woman. All sound bites taken from tabloids, social media comments, movies, and other large media sources.

On a work trip to DC, I stumbled upon a gallery of portraits (no not that one) and saw two motion portraits I found fascinating. I wanted to try my hand at emulating this style of work. It doesn't read as well on a computer screen as it is meant to be hung like a portrait in a gallery, giving it a pace so you could watch the entire piece or watch for a bit and move on as you please.

Laurel Hall School

2016-2017

Laurel Hall had two requests:  to update the marketing for perspective families and to create posters and a refreshed logo for their yearly summer camp. As an alum, I wanted to convey the experience I had through my work. I updated the informational marketing to  have better visual hierarchy, but also tweaked their colors to a deeper green and gold to give a more professional look and feel. On items meant to engage both the parents and children, like the infographic and summer program poster, I lightened the green and gold to be more playful and light. Also bringing in notes of handwritten typography and illustrations.

Role Models Show Poster

2016

Working with the writer and director, I was tasked with creating an eye-catching poster that reflected the themes of the show. We held a photoshoot with each cast member and laid the selected images out as if it were a contact sheet of images for review. Adding detail with some images circled or squared as selections.
